well-some of her relatives live in britain-but yeah, lived in LA then NYC, and back to UCSB for college....

There was an SNL skit where they made fun of Gwyneth pretending she was from England. I guess her accent-using roles in "Shakespeare in Love" and "Sliding Doors" gave people that impression.

Gwyneth is one of those chicks who doesn't have that impressive breasts but is still highly impressive nonetheless. I think Brad Pitt married a less attractive woman in Jennifer Aniston.

Yes, I'm aware that she's not English. When I was in London about half my friends thought she was English until I set them straight. She is MUCH more popular in Britain than America, which enabled me to clarify why I don't like her: for the same reasons I frequently dislike high class, educated (or at least degreed) English. The English intelligentsia is always ready to believe that glib accents and shallow word games are the zenith of human achievement. Thus, we have Gwyneth Paltrow: a clever mannequin who is cut off at the neck from any deep experience of adult femininity.

Well, IMO, she seems like a perfectly nice girl, but there's just something... missing there. She's like Helen Hunt - a sort of yuppie cipher, seemingly untouched by actual emotion. (And I'm an episcopalian from Connecticut, so I know whereof I speak...)

Poor Gwyneth!!
Well, I think she's a good actress(not great but good). Ok, I haven't seen Shallow Hal (not really looking forward to seeing it, to be honest!) but, hey, nobody's perfect. I like her long neck, I think she's graceful. Yeah, some people call it being cold. Oh, well... is being smart and chic necessarily snobby???
And she has a good voice, I think.
Maybe you guys are a little biased cos you dislike her style...
