New ways to get your government check

Prediction: In my lifetime (I'm 22) blacks will suffer a huge employment crisis. With their on average higher IQs and stronger work ethic, Hispanics will drive at least 50% of blacks out of the private sector. Along with an re-expanded welfare system, government jobs will be increasingly offered as a sop. Black employment even now is heavily concentrated in the public sector, but in ten years it will be very hard for whites to get government jobs. The top levels will be heavily white, but the mid-level white government worker will dwindle, even if a lot of make-work jobs are created to accomodate unemployable blacks. This will certainly change the face of the D.C. area, but it will also make the government workforce more pervasively leftist and more socialistic in its work ethic as it elevates the right opinions and community service over performence. As for what non-black Americans will think of a primarily black government workforce, all I can say is that average Americans will have a lower opinion of government workers than they do now.

Razib adds: Latinos are marginalizing the working classes of other races throughout the West because of their willingness to work at lower wages and longer hours. I visited Kentucky last spring, and there were actually English speaking white women changing the bedsheets. Surreal.

Thanks, Mitch. That's my biggest spelling weakness.

I suspect that a good percentage of the black populace will respond to competitive pressure, and, of course, the job market will continue to grow. At least I hope so. The social stratification inherent in your proposal is staggering.

What tunes do you whistle in the dark? Which new hewers-of-wood jobs is the market going to generate?

The problem with duende's assessment is that with the decline in birth rates in America, it is equally possible that there will be such a relative shortage of workers in 20-50 yrs that (assuming total US productivity doesn't decrease that much either) blacks might be in more demand for some jobs.

I am assuming a lot to be fair. It could also be that the US population stabilizes or grows due to immigration and increasing birth rates among those groups, thereby lending more credence to duende's argument.

Isn't the white birth rate about at replacement levels? And you shouldn't base predictions on assumed economic data. This economy has quite a ways to go before it realy starts to grow again and that growth will likely be low and slow.

I am pretty sure the white birth rate is at below replacement lvl. The US, as a whole, is at replacement lvl due to mainly Latin immigration and birth rates.

Who doesnt make economic predictions on assumed economic data?

I had a good laugh with this piece. I'm a native of Washington, D.C., a/k/a "Chocolate City" in the black vernacular. You're not telling me anything new. Every chance I get I remind the rest of the folks in this banana republic about the "profiling" issue with the federal government.

As for Latinos working at lower wages and for longer hours, why, gee, if you start with nothing, and you pay nothing for "free" medical care, education, and so on, then you will work for anything above zero dollars an hour. Duh!
