What is it?

Giant sea creature baffles Chilean scientists is a headline more usual in the late 1800s yellow journalism days, but seems like a weird monster washed ashore down south. Check out this cryptozoology site if that tickles your fancy.

According to one of the captions the thing weighs thirteen tons. And who knows, it may have lost some pieces and parts before washing up on the shore. It's too bad that it's been lying there for a week since being discovered - but I guess hauling off a 13-ton carcass for preservation is a pretty difficult undertaking.
