Muslim, pregnant & unmarried
This interview of a liberal Muslim journalist is very interesting. She is more "religious" than I am, but I can relate in some ways.... (aside from the being pregnant out-of-wedlock part)

I wasn't impressed by the interview. She talked a bit strange. The only thing I got out of it was the conflict within her between Indian, American and Islamic values. BTW she's not pregnant, she's got a baby. And the kid has a Pakistani Dad (who lives in Pakistan, not in the West.) I have heard a lot from almost all of my Muslim and Asian friends and acquaintances about cultural and religous conflict as a result of living in the West. Though I can understand their feelings, I really have never felt that conflict myself. Posted by: Zack at July 16, 2003 02:16 AMI liked the article. I can certainly identify better than Zack. Maybe better than Razib. Esp. god was the part about the insupportability of boundaries and dual identities. And how immigrant culture can be anti-fun -- all about deferred gratification. That's Un-American! And Razib -- Nomani's pregnancy is not the only thing in the article you can't relate to. Let's be real -- how much Tantric sex are you having with your imaginary blonde girlfriends? On the other hand, you may be able to relate to the guy who calls himeslf a "technical virign"!
