All must bend the knee to Christ?

Head Heeb blogs about the Fijian attempt to establish Christianity as the official religion and prohibit the public practice of other faiths. Those faiths would be the Hinduism & Islam, practiced by 45% of the citizens of Fiji, mostly Indo-Fijian (who run the economy but are legally blocked from becoming stake-holders by purchasing property). Remind you of of some other place? There is even a similar movement in The United States, though it's so marginal no one pays attention. I would like to add that state sponsored discrimination against Islam & Hinduism have been common around the world where Hindu peasants have settled to till the land, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago and Mauritius are examples of locales where non-Christian marriages were originally not solemnized by the authorities and encouragement to convert to Christianity went hand & hand with socioeconomic advancement (especially in T & T, where 20% of East Indians are Christian).

At least Christianity isn't interested in killing Americans and Israelis, unlike a certain other religion.

So, I don't really care what happens in Fiji, not while there are countries where people are executed for blaspheming Islam.

well, the link i posted to reconstructionist christianity, a far right-wing branch of reformed presbyterianism, would kill americans for adultery, children for disobeying parents, homosexuals, etc. of course, this off the deep-end, but the thing i'm pointing out is that christianity has been gelded in the united states, but not so much among the more primitive peoples of the world....

we must find out a way to castrate islam ;)

of course, christianity was born kind of small balls in relation to islam, so tiz a harder trick, especially pullling it off in a few generations....

i gurantee you that if muslism were 45%, instead of 10%, of fiji's population that there would be no movement to make christianity the official religion-muslims don't stand for that shit, they'd be blowing up the head-quarters of every clan chief....

yokes seem to fit much more easily on hindu necks (no offense, but this is true, ask my ancestors, at least the ones who weren't hindu ;)

"Horrifically unfair and un-PC observation...according to the world at war map compiled by global security, there is only one ongoing conflict (in Columbia) that involves neither sub-Saharan Africans nor Muslims."

Godless, check that map again. It is not very accurate.

Hmm... I think the Ethiopia/Eritrea war is over. Otherwise, the map seems fairly accurate.

Not only Ethiopia/Eritria war...

There is no war (or 'proxy war') in Namibia. Not right now.

Nigeria is highlighted and I assume that's because of tribal bickering some of which erupts into violent clashes once or twice per year. Senegal on the other hand is not highlighted - though it has a rebel group in its southern region. That civil war has already caused thousands of refugees to pour into neighboring Gambia and Guinea Bissau. For some reason, BBC seems to be the only western media that reports on this particular conflict.

Even though the country is still in bad shape, the Angolan civil war ended with the death of Jonas Savimbi.

I suspect the folks at Global Security are just a tad late in updating that image since they are up to date on other parts of their website.
