I think it is curious that this site is popular across the northern states, but not a single southern university is on the list. Well, at least nothing south of DC and it’s tony suburbs.

Probably conservative colleges. GMU is famously conservative. Indiana is in a ‘red state’. U Wash…OK, probably not. Hofstra is in Long Island, which is a relatively red part of a deep blue state. (NYS is actually pretty purple overall, but something like a third of the population lives in…you know where.)

they have millions of readers. we have a few thousand :) hundreds who are regulars. alexa and pagerank can tell you more.

The Marginal Revolution people are from George Mason University, maybe that accounts for some of the traffic from there. Can’t explain Hofstra, however.
