i am very curious about the ones who dont believe in god but are sure that humans didnt evolve from animals
some cognitive dissonance here ?
Gh: ?i am very curious about the ones who dont believe in god but are sure that humans didnt evolve from animals
some cognitive dissonance here ??
A person could notice that life events have no correlation with good or bad and then conclude that god does not exist. That same person might also believe that the human mind does not arise from biology and evolution.
When choosing between human beliefs the correct answer will often be ?none of the above?.

or, too stupid to figure out the intent of the questions. ‘cognitive dissonance’ presupposes a mind comfortable and at ease with habitual reflective cognition.
Interesting that those who “Know God Exists” and believe evolution is probably or definitely true safely outnumber the total of atheist/agnostics.
Indeed, from this survey it would appear that the populace can be basically divided between believers (“Believe but doubts” + “Know God exists”) who accept evolution and believers who reject it. The remainder appears rather marginal, making up much less than 20% of the population.

are you seriously expressing any surprise that the raw numbers of theistic evolutionists dwarfs atheistic evolutionists??? no poll i’ve seen for americans has shown that atheists & agostics form more than 5% of the population. no poll i’ve seen for americans has shown that those with religious affiliation form less than 85% of the population (the majority of those without religious affiliation are not atheists or agnostics obviously). to me, ‘interest’ denotes some surprise. the fact that some idiots avow atheism and anti-evolutionism is pretty interesting i think. the fact that the vast majority of americans who accept evolution are theists shouldn’t surprise anyone familiar with the breakdown of belief of the american public.
interesting: the correlation between GOD and SCITEST4 holds within groups stratified by educational attainment at approximately the same strength (~.4)
Has anyone taken into account that not everybody is honest about their beliefs? Some people would admit to being protestants sooner than admit to being atheists.
Interesting that if you look at the column totals, there are twice as many people in the “probably true” column as in the “definitely true” column, but for the “not true” columns the situation is reversed.
