What is the fascination with Finland? I haven’t met too many Finns, but they seemed like most other Europeans: slightly weird. Does this Finn fascination result from the fact that Finland is one of the few Western nations still composed almost exclusively of it’s native population?
One of the most obvious thing about Finns is that they make great racing drivers: two Finns in F1. One of them made it with only about 24 car races (plus years karting); easily one of the greatest feats in sports over the last 10 years.

What, when did the Swedes leave??
Maybe it’s the combination of weird language and somewhat-weird genetics that fascinates. Or maybe Finns are simply fun to bait because of their famously wavering self-esteem. Waah, I’m being oppressed!
Being a quarter Finnish (along with half-Ukrainian Jewish and a quarter Irish), I love the Finn baiting. My full-blooded Finn grandfather was absolutely the stereotypical Finn–quiet, shy, blond and an engineer. When it comes to Finn baiting, it’s usually funny ’cause it’s true.
