My father (an MD) had a patient who drank a quart of vodka a day. One night he went to a wedding dance and drank two quarts. When he was admitted to the hospital his vital signs were so bad that they thought he was dying or dead. The next morning he woke up, asked a few questions, and walked out.
Unfortunately I can’t check this story, since my father is dead. It’s possible or likely that he exaggerated some what, but he wasn’t a big bullshitter and I’m convinced that his story is basically true.
