I’m really not that interested in the biological origins of pedophilia, instead my attention was drawn to the fact that such a height difference is known for a range of disorders. In The Mating Mind Geoffrey Miller hypothesized that variance in mutational load across individuals tracked beauty. This is basically a “good genes” model for why organisms exhibit sexual preferences. Miller was assuming a polygynous social system, but this makes me wonder as to the importance of “good health” due to provisioning in a monogamous species.
Though height is about 80% heritable in modern environments that still leaves an unaccounted for 20%; where does that come from? Possibly infection or developmental instability early on for whatever exogenous reason. In pre-modern contexts one assumes that heritability would be a bit lower because of the random stresses during pregnancy and during early childhood growth. In any case, adult height in males would surely be a good proxy for how healthy he is, and how productive a provider he might be. Additionally, good genes is still operative in a scenario where ability to resist and fight off infection is a proxy for fitness.

well, i don’t know. ephebophilia seems like the major option for that sort. i mean, if you want to ‘hit it’ with a 7 year old i think it is a case of more than a ‘back up plan.’ in any case, as i said, i’m more interested in the alluded to global trend of the ill being midgety….

I think height is a good measure of health in a pathogen-ravaged environment just because it’s easy to measure, even centuries later. But it’s not the best measure in the here-and-now — how vigorous you appear is better. That’s why people are better dancers in high-pathogen-load environments, and pretty piss-poor in relatively pathogen-free environments.
With height, though, you might be led to think there was rampant “good genes” sexual selection in northern Europe. Looking at dancing ability would clear that confusion right up. ;)
The question is, how many disorders are associated with an increase in height? (I know there are some.)

The average male American mens height is 177 cm, which is 69.7 inches, which is approximately 5 foot – 10 inches tall. (for white males*).

I presume you actually mean “Most pedophiles in the US are white males,” although perhaps you have information on the distribution of pedophiles world-wide.
Do you have the stats? How do they fare when compared with their proportion of the actual US population?

This is stated crudely, but there is truth here in the sense that being short has negative social implications, and will cause lower self esteem, greater rejection by women, and this stuff can lead to deviant sexual desires and other mental problems.
If you don’t care about separating culture and race, it’s easy to just look at crime statistics of foreigners by country of origin. In the local ones, white people are pretty ludicrously far from an especially pedophile-prone group.
For something more likely to be true and more likely to be actually offensive to the GNXP crowd, I’d suggest looking into athleticism vs. nerdiness. Sucking in gym class probably correlates well to later life weirdness. Appealing to the extremes, top athletes are NOT notorious for being eccentric or weird, unlike the top of pretty much everything else. In fact, the main stereotype is that they’re extraordinarily ordinary personalities. I bet pedophiles are much more likely to be into sci-fi than boxing.
Agnostic… in males dancing ability very, very obviously correlates with at least some abnormality in the development of sexual orientation. Please!

Also Kleinefelter Syndrome – where “men” are XXY, and like Eunuchs, grow very tall.
If hunter-gatherers lack what we consider pedophilia — not just teasing kids with raunchy jokes, or sex services that serve mostly as rituals / initiation rites, etc., but preferentially targeting pre-pubescents and not liking pubescents — then that would also support the pathogenic hypothesis.
