Whoever wrote it got the Greek wrong, and Galton, with his good English boarding school education (with its massive Greek and Latin indoctrination program), would never have done that. Genos is a word denoting race or maybe lineage, not child or children. That would be paidos or paidia. So genophilia, to anyone with Galton’s background would mean love of race or something of that sort (not a thought totally foreign to Galton either), and not love of children.
