Not that surprising given that Irish people have much higher rates of coeliac disease.

Japan is probably the best place to look at for indicators of this kind, leading to a questionable conclusion that religion becomes more superstittion, shared rituals (even on the level of "knock on wood") and things like accepted norms of behaviour, with fortune telling, tarot etc. as it might work, and there's no harm in it.
There's a big problem with this though in the homogenity of Japanese population, especially compared with the USA.
