    Are we? It could be argued that egalitarianism is humanities more natural default state. That it was civilisation (agriculture) that allowed certain people to maintain feudal aristocracy and the like through force of spear and sword point caused by the Pareto distribution of wealth due to the innovation of individuals, rather than tribes, owning land, with human nature fighting against this and eventually even overturning it in such things as modern democracy and the abolition of slavery.
