anon - i tend to disagree that harvard's math/science students are lower caliber than those in other schools, but that's off topic.
i was addressing the idea running through this thread that it's not all that impressive to be a humanities major at a top ivy league school, which i think is nonsense. (i was kind of following michael blowhard's lead when he wrote tongue in cheek"But then I'm just an ol' Lit major from a fancy school")... i mean u need a high iq to get into these schools, and there's plenty of scope for high iq students in the humanities. not every genius enjoys crunching numbers

it's def a little easier to get good grades in the humanities than the sciences, but g-wise, the average humanities major at harvard is no worse than the average science major.
i'm sure at lower-tier schools, the humanities deparments amass a lot of dimwits, but that's not the case here
