No, but that migration has probably had a substantial effect on the religious distribution in Britain. Britain today seems to be as much a Catholic country as it is Anglican. (This of course reflects the near-collapse of the CofE as well as Catholic in-migration.)

Muffy: Right. Notice how negative deviant Japan is (48 kg below prediction). Argentina is another country with lots of cheap meat, so deviant high. I believe that's also true of Uruguay. And New Zealand has sheep. 
 
Brazil? Idunno about actual consumption, but there was a fad for Brazilian barbecue restaurants where one gorged on meat. All you can eat, they bring 8 or 10 kinds to your table on skewers until you make them stop. If that's the national cuisine, the numbers fit.

Very few religions actually offered faith healing as a norm. Certainly there was no contradiction between religious devotion and relying on physicians in medieval and renaissance Europe. 
 
And no, pre-modern physicians were not merely charlatans. If one had a broken leg, a physician could set it. Physicians could stitch up wounds (after Paré invented suturing). There were successful operations for kidney stones in the 1600s. Paré was also an important contributor to obstetric practice, helping devise or revive procedures which saved many women and babies in cases of breech birth or similar complications. 
 
This is not to deny that there was much iatrogenic illness and death, or that much medical practice was dangerous or harmful. But there were also many real and visible successes of medicine.

I agree that the pro-carbs/anti-fat push has no real scientific justification, but I question the asserted linkage between orthodox dietary preaching and the increase in obesity. 
 
For one thing, how many of those who became obese were even aware of the official diet gospel? How many actually followed it seriously? There was some substantial effect on diets, obviously, as shown by the consumption of "lite" and "low-fat" food products. But again, how many of the obese were actually following the recommended diet? 
 
ISTM that the increase in obesity correlates with the rise in incomes, making excess amounts of food available cheap. Rising incomes also allowed more people to afford convenience foods and restaurant meals - especially the working classes and the semi-poor. It's easier to eat a lot when one doesn't have to cook it. 
 
(It would be very interesting to compare obesity levels with the home-cooked proportion of diet - and not only home cooked but scratch-cooked.)

I believe steroids are permitted for injury recovery, i.e. the restoration of normal function. Griffey probably was given steroid medications for that purpose.

Antti: There is a more permanent way to deal with violent psychopaths than imprisonment. No criminal has ever escaped from a coffin. 
 
Caledonian: What you said. The researchers have demonstrated correlation. They have not demonstrated causation - though they imply they have (the last sentence). When they have a mechanism as well, which has been verified, that would be something.

I live in a mid-level but gritty Chicago neighborhood. I've never been mugged or robbed, but there have been a few gunfights outside my building (~5 in three years; plus a very noisy celebration on last Election Night). 
 
When I get home and am planning to go back out, I park my bike outside, with a chain through the wheels. Ordinary steel chain, not a U-lock, and not to any fixed object, as there's none available. 
 
Occasionally, if I'm in a hurry, I leave it unlocked. A few times I've forgotten I was going back out, and left it out overnight, unlocked.

The 99% ratings for Latin American countries strikes me as dubious - more formalism than substance. In another generation the social proscription against admitting unbelief will be gone, and Latins will be right down there with Europeans.

I think it's cool and in a way cheering that this useful project was carried out primarily under the Soviets and continued through the change of regime.

Who says there is only one form of homosexuality? Other deviations from the norm come in multiple flavors. There could be gene synergies, in which two traits lead to homosexuality only if both are present, or gene-environment synergies. 
 
The method described (examining the characteristics of a self-selected group of professed homosexuals) does seem flawed. It would be better to type a large sample of people by these characteristics, and then look for distribution of homosexuality.

It's even better than that. When working-class or welfare-class youth join the Army, it's often for vocational training or post-service benefits such as college money. When middle-class and upper-class youth join the Army, it's not for these reasons - they don't have these needs. They join to drive tanks, shoot big guns, jump out of airplanes, blow things up, and learn to kill with their bare hands; that is, to be warriors.
