asdf, I can only laugh at such simplistic flights of fantasy. When do you test for IQ, Grade 2 or 12? If someone never gets the chance for a decent education (which will be 80% of Indians), chances of them passing any test is slim. Then what? They will forever condemned to their fate? It's interesting you talk about Japan, Germany & Israel. The first 2 when down the we-are-better-than-everybody-else path and got their arse kicked.

Maybe it's the struggle between two strong mimeplexe's culture and religion. Both tend to homogenize, religion might be perceived as a stand against western-liberal homogenization.

This ofcourse is to be expected. I think any society where women get education and opportunities will start moving away from son-mania. 
Also, coming from South India in many families (including mine) I knew, there was never a overt preference for sons. Boy preference is not that universial in South Asia as it is regularly assumed.
