Perhaps the most simple explanation is that the jewish population in the US is more secular overall. In orthodox communities, people spend a significant portion of their time involved in religious rather than economic activity and tend to be less well off. Secular Israelis seem to be phenomenally productive, certainly in terms of technology.

This isn't an unusually virtuosic performance. Many talented guitarists reach this level in high school, after 3-4 years of practice or so. I actually don't know why this was posted here.

Can you link to this? It seems very significant. Does it mean that the compulsive self- stimulation of rats with electrodes planted in their nucleus accumbens occurs without euphoria? (the nucleus accumbens is dopamine- activated). Are they merely becoming obsessive- compulsives, without joy in what they do?
