I have no doubt that high rates of red hair in the Isles is partially due to founder effect, but to suggest recent inbreeding is not warranted. Red hair is a perfectly natural feature in cloud covered northern areas, not a pathology of the inbred.

Yes, skin pigmentation is highly dependent on vesicular transport. Many forms of albinism involve microtubule or vesicular anomalies. But I think that NCKX5 would have to have tissue specific expression, because modification of the trans-golgi network sounds bad in other secretory type cells.
