You know, I don't like the Saudi government. But I guess I hadn't thought of it this
way:
Why would the president entertain the leaders of the country that supplied most of the perpetrators of and the funding for the murder of 3,000 Americans?
It's true that assigning collective responsibility to the Saudis for the actions of some of its citizens is something of a jump. But they have couched their response to September 11 in a chorus of "buts". We should not be cutting them any slack. We should not be taking no for an answer when they refuse to let us use the bases we built to protect
them from Hussein in 1991. They should meet
us on our terms, and beg for mercy. They are lucky we let them live.
