Three months ago, early on in the quarantine, I purchased some Louisiana Brand Habanero Hot Sauce. In fact, I purchased 1 gallon. The reason was quarantine. I was clearly not going to go shopping for small batches, so I wanted a big one. And I wanted it to be hot, and have a simple and clean flavor. And Louisiana Brand Habanero was just that.
Now that three months have passed, I’m almost out. So I purchased some more. I will try other hot sauces, but this stuff really gets me 80-90% of the way there, and as long as we’re not really going shopping in person this seems best (I used to use Fuego, but it all seemed a bit precious).
Anyway, if The Fall of Rome the history book you should get, this is the hot sauce equivalent.
Goddammit. Last night I just got a 2 pack of 12oz Frank’s Extra Hot because I misremembered your previous post recommending this one. Last night. And now you are dark on Twitter as well. Signs & portents.
What the hell do you pour this into to dispense? And do you have to keep the momma jug in the frig? Or can it just sit in a cupboard since the little jars can sit out?
These guys are really good for hot sauces if you know someone in LA:

i decant into a small bottle that i keep in the fridge. the big one didn’t have an issue with lose it’s bite after 3 months out (i only opened it to decant). it’s really vinegary
Do other members of your family partake, or is this a lonely pursuit?
I just got a quart of Old Bay hot sauce.
Will report results.
Razib, I am just about to embark on reading a history of Rome. What do you think about Gibbons’ “The History and Decline of the Roman Empire”?
I like Louisiana Hot Sauce but have not tried the habernero. Have to put it on the list.
What do you think of sambals?
I like vinegar hot sauces, and in my opinion they need to go with a dish that has fat in it or sweetness.
Wally World now has the 3 oz jars of this in stock as 12 packs at a good price. On its way. Look forward to trying it. (There’s no way I’d make it through a gallon, but I’ll try to do a decent Amazon order next time I add to my Kindle backlog thru one of your links.)
